Breath Queen to the Rescue

Popcorn Balls for XMAS

Here we are nearly two whole weeks into the last month of 2012! These 12 days have been filled with highs and lows associated with all those challenges that this busy season presents. Once again there have been lots of opportunities to practice principles of the Alexander Technique and using breath as a tool of choice to deal with craziness. I have this fear of scheduling grinches and gremlins. Can’t you just picture these creatures all dressed up in their little red and green hats with pom poms on the little pointed tops. They are squealing in glee when one of us double-books some time slot. The joy they express when they see us scrambling to right the calendar and stay calm! But, “ta da!” Breath Queen to the rescue! She says, “Stop, I will rescue you!”. And, bingo, in that moment the gift of breath comes rushing in and inspiration arrives along with it. We are revived and move on to the next challenge.

I truly think that one of the biggest gifts I’ve received from the study of F.M. Alexander’s writing and work is my awareness of my own needs. I realize that I cannot keep rushing about and that the only way to replenish is to stop and wait. I must allow the time to replenish that well of energy. The great awareness, though, is not that the energy needs to be revived, but recognizing what circumstances suck the energy from us and proactively making a plan to limit those before they overpower us.

Merrily and with awakened awareness we go Forward and Up to a beautiful continuation of December and coming of a New Year!
